Top Level Competition at US Open

Kickstart Kids students from Southeast Texas traveled to the US Open this year which was hosted in Orlando, Florida. The competition was held June 30 through July 1 and is considered to be the largest sport karate tournament in the United States and features competition on a very high level.

Out of almost a dozen Kickstart Kids Southeast students that competed all but one placed in their divisions. The students not only represented Kickstart Kids well with their martial arts skills but also with their character.

Kickstart Kids alumni and instructors also competed in the competition with exceptional performances by, Black Middle School instructor, Mr. Matt Garza and, Fort Settlement Middle School instructor, Ms. Tia Buras.

After two days of strenuous competition, the students went to Universal Studios for some well deserved rest and relaxation. Needless to say, the team had a great time!
