Values Curriculum

Values

Our goal is to work in partnership with educators, parents, law enforcement, and other leaders to help build strong positive communities by teaching character through karate. We use karate and our values curriculum in classes daily to teach the values of honesty, loyalty, courage, discipline, respect, dedication, kindness, and responsibility.

Our black belt instructors serve as role models to our students. Research shows that through the discipline of the martial arts, students in the KICKSTART KIDS program develop the ability to believe in themselves, create goals for their future, and become positive role models for others.

Each month, our instructors focus on a particular value and work on educating their students on that value. Classroom materials such as posters, quotes, creeds, and a monthly workbook are utilized to help instill these values into the students.

Rachel's Challenge

In 2011, KICKSTART KIDS formed a partnership with Rachel’s Challenge, an organization focused on inspiring, equipping, and empowering students to create a permanent positive culture change in their school and community by starting a chain reaction of kindness and compassion. Driven by the organization’s namesake Rachel Scott, who was the first person killed at Columbine High School, their objectives include creating a safe learning environment for students by re-establishing civility and delivering proactive anecdotes to school violence and bullying, as well as inspiring academic achievement by engaging students’ hearts, heads, and hands in the learning process. Together, we promote a positive culture in our students through core values.
