On April 14th, the North Texas Crime Commission presented Kickstart Kids with the Safe School Award to recognize work the program has done to create safer schools in the North Texas region.
Kickstart Kids Executive Director, Pat Kaufman, along with André Dowd, KSK Director of Development, and KSK Dallas Board Member, Cheryl Sinacola were on hand to accept the award. Students from Perry Middle School in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD held a special performance for guests and were accompanied by their instructor, Jessica Helman and North Texas Regional Director, Leroy Sanchez and Kickstart Kids Director of Special Projects, Joey Nelson.
Gena and Chuck Norris also expressed their gratitude to the commission in form of a personal thank you video that was played to guests. In the video, the Kickstart Kids founders thanked the members for their recognition and hard work to keep communities safe.
In honor of the these two Safe School Awards, Kickstart Kids has created the Safe School Ambassador program where one student from each campus that most represents the values of Kickstart Kids while demonstrating what it means to have good citizenship will be recognized as a Safe School Ambassador and receive a certification. Students will be honored with the certification during their Spring Belt Ceremonies.
